How we collect, use and protect personal data across everything AfricAI operates.

Overview

Africai ("we", "us") operates Business and AI development infrastructure across Africa. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our platform, Products, APIs, and related services.

We are committed to African data sovereignty and comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), the South African POPIA, and Kenya's Data Protection Act where applicable.

01 :: Collection

Data We Collect

We collect information in the following categories:

  • Account data: email address, name, company, and the type of work you are doing
  • Usage data: how you use the platform, your activity history, and error reports
  • Technical data: IP addresses, device type, browser version
  • Content data: inputs and outputs processed on the platform (retained for 30 days by default)

How We Use Data

  • Delivering API services and processing your requests
  • Calculating usage
  • Monitoring platform health, uptime, and security incidents
  • Improving model quality through aggregated, anonymized feedback (opt-in only)
  • Sending transactional emails (API key creation, billing alerts, security notifications)
  • Complying with applicable African data protection laws

03 :: Sharing

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Infrastructure providers ( hosted in-region) for compute and storage
  • Payment processors for billing
  • Analytics providers (self-hosted, in-region) for platform monitoring
  • Law enforcement, when required by valid African legal process

04 :: Residency

African Data Residency

All customer data is stored and processed within African infrastructure. Your region selection at signup determines your data residency:

  • Lagos, Nigeria — Nigeria data protection law (NDPR)
  • Nairobi, Kenya — Kenya Data Protection Act
  • Johannesburg, South Africa — South Africa data protection law (POPIA)
  • Accra, Ghana — Ghana Data Protection Act

No customer data is ever routed through or stored in European or North American infrastructure.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for session management and authentication. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

06 :: Rights

Your Rights

Under applicable African data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of non-essential data processing

Security

Your data is encrypted when stored and encrypted when being transferred. Access credentials are never stored in plain text. We conduct regular security audits and operate a responsible disclosure program at security@africai.ai
